Prime Storage Geology

We access some of the best gas storage geology in North America. We own and operate four large natural gas storage fields for our residential, commercial and industrial customers as well as for gas marketers, wholesalers and other pipeline customers.

With over 124 Bcf of working storage, we can design a customized storage plan to meet the needs of your business.

  • Annual - Customized profile whereby gas can be injected and withdrawn throughout the year or injected throughout the summer months and withdrawn during the winter months.

  • Summer Only - This service can be used to meet power plant requirements. A customized injection/withdrawal profile provided within one summer season.

  • Parks & Loans - Parks & Loans can be a cost-effective service to balance supply and market requirements. We can assist you with short-term gas storage ("park") or an advance of gas ("loan") for a period of one day or longer.

  • Balancing Services - Balancing services can be customized to meet your peak period requirements. Whether servicing a LDC, a power plant on MichCon's system or off an interconnecting interstate, we can assist with balancing needs.

Our central location offers unsurpassed access and transportation options for large-volume shippers who need to deliver gas beyond the MichCon system.

We are a critical link for shippers who transport gas from mid-continent, Gulf Coast and Western Canadian supplies to growing markets in Eastern Canada and the Northeast United States.

Customizable Services

  • Exchanges - a cost-effective solution to meeting market requirements upstream of MichCon's system.
  • Title Transfer - track all transactions involving the transfer of title of natural gas delivered within MichCon's transmission system without physical movement of the natural gas. The rate for this service is $0.005/MMBtu.
